RENEW International attends first membership meeting
of the Association of Catholic Publishers


Three members of the RENEW International staff attended the Association of Catholic Publishers’ first membership meeting. The event was held in early September in the Schiller Park suburb of Chicago, Illinois.

Interim Director of Operations Patricia Wiley was accompanied by Customer Service and Order Fulfilment Manager Eartha Johnson and Editorial Assistant Christopher Burns.

Approximately one hundred Catholic publishing professionals from throughout the country gathered for professional development seminars, networking, prayer, and fellowship.

Speakers addressed such themes as designing for the Catholic eye, effective branding, permissions and copyright issues, social media best practices, integrated marketing in a digital age, succession planning, and identifying and building on your strengths.

A keynote presentation on the importance faith in God and having purpose and passion was made by author Anne Beiler. Beiler, once a poor Amish farm girl with only an eighth-grade education, experienced some tragedies that deeply affected her life. To support her family, in 1988 she began baking and selling pretzels at a farm market. Her business, called Auntie Anne’s Soft Pretzels, is today a global company with over 1,500 locations throughout the world. In her book, Twist of Faith, she describes all of her success as a miracle provided by God, enabling her to help others who are less fortunate.
