ARISE Good News From San Angelo
Over 30 parishes in the Diocese of San Angelo have completed the first Season of ARISE Together in Christ/Levántate Unámonos en Cristo.
The "good news" story below is from Holy Redeemer parish in Odessa, Texas.
Anne Scanlan, a member of RENEW’s Pastoral Services Team, recently spoke with Roselva Ruiz, ARISE Coordinator for Holy Redeemer Parish in Odessa, TX.
Roselva was delighted to say they have 29 groups, with approximately 250 participants. Groups include couples, Moms, young adults and vary by meeting time, place and day of the week.
During Season One, each Parish Team member took responsibility for a number of small groups and visited them, providing insight and experience, and the opportunity to meet any expressed or observed need (such as music, books, etc.). Parish Team Members wore ARISE polo shirts and now the participants want them, too. The Parish Team members each selected a color for their shirt which will also be worn by the participants in their "group of small groups."
Recently, the 13-member Parish Team met to share their experiences and good news abounded:
“wonderful experience,” “bonded with their groups,” “great participation (even from folks who belong to other parishes),” “dynamic team.”
This week, Small Community Leaders will gather, share, and celebrate with the Parish Team. On December 9, everyone involved in ARISE (and anyone interested) is invited to an event of music, witness, testimony, and food.
Anne recently received this email message from Holy Redeemer pastor, Fr. Bernardito Getigan: “On my end as a pastor, the program brought me closer to my people and provided me a better understanding about their lives especially spiritually by visiting one small group every week.”
