Why Catholic? includes a full range of elements designed to meet the needs of your people and parishes, in both English and Spanish.
- Initial Consultation—RENEW International team members meet with diocesan staff to review the content of Why Catholic? and explain the process for bringing it to parishes.
- Information Sessions—We provide an overview of how Why Catholic? responds to an identified need today—adults’ desire to connect with their Catholic beliefs and renew their identity as Catholics.
Workshops and retreats delivered to your people by our experienced trainers
- Launching Why Catholic? Workshop—practical suggestions for inviting maximum participation in the parish. Target audience is pastor and pastoral staff, Why Catholic? team, and other catechetical leaders.
- Small Community Leader Formation—on-site formation workshops for leaders with strong catechetical content and methods for facilitating adult learning.
- Faith Formation Workshops—in-depth faith formation workshops on a key topic from each of the four pillars of the Catechism for small community leaders, participants, and all interested parishoners.
- Retreat Experiences—Special days of prayer for all parishes participating in Why Catholic? to celebrate their faith, incorporating inspiration from Scripture and the Catechism.
High quality materials for parish leaders and participants
- Invitation Video—Parishes present this dynamic sign-up tool as part of the homily. Can be customized for your diocese.
- Participant Books—These solid, approachable materials have been tested within small groups, were reviewed by the U.S. Bishops’ Ad Hoc Committee to Oversee the Use of the Catechism, and have an Imprimatur.
- Parish Kit—Includes the key resource materials to support successful parish implementation.
- RENEWING FAMILY FAITH Bulletin Inserts—Make Why Catholic? a total parish experience. Connect families to Catechism topics through short essays, blessings, activities, and stories for sharing. Presented in an inviting format, it has a wide variety of uses.

- Training of Parish Retreat Leaders—RENEW International presenters train parish leaders and supply resources to enable these leaders to offer an evening retreat in their parish.
- Catechetical Leader Workshops—RENEW provides workshops for catechetical ministers to assist them in using Why Catholic? for Parent Sacramental Preparation, Catechist Training, and enhancing the catechetical content of the RCIA Process.
