RENEW International 2014 Gala Honorees
|Donald M. Daniels|
Awarded to that individual who through his/her actions and support,
have advanced RENEW’s mission of evangelization, spiritual renewal,
and faith formation and played a significant role in bringing those efforts to
individuals, parishes, and dioceses throughout the world.
Donald M. Daniels is the Chairman and co-founder of the Daniels Group, a managed healthcare delivery system. Don has a long history as a leader in the development of health care in the not-for-profit world and has served as Chair of Catholic Charities in the Diocese of Metuchen, as well as on more than 20 healthcare boards of directors in a number of dioceses. He has been a leading spokesperson and architect of health care financing at both the state and national levels.

Msgr. Thomas A. Kleissler Award
Awarded to a person who exemplifies one or more of the remarkable qualities
of Father Tom: demonstrates a visionary and missionary spirit
of Church renewal, committed to justice as integral to faith,
dedicated to the formation of lay leadership and devoted to
spiritual renewal through the building of small Christian communities.
Msgr. Neil A. Connolly served 28 years at St Mary’s on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, one of the oldest Catholic parishes in New York. It has been a center of Latino life on the Lower East Side for six decades. When he arrived in the mid-80′s, Msgr. Connolly confronted a range of social problems, including violence, drugs and poverty and for many years, he advocated for low-income housing. Msgr. Connolly has formed and supported small communities as a key to his pastoral plan for a vibrant parish. He is already planning to form small communities at his new parish using RENEW’s Longing for the Holy.
|Thomas and Frances “Salsey” Sullivan|
Spirit of RENEW Award
Awarded to that individual who through his/her actions,
in both private and public life, has exemplified the Catholic values
central to the mission of RENEW and through word and deed,
spread that message of the Gospel to all.
Thomas and Frances “Salsey” Sullivan are parishioners of St. Elizabeth parish in Avon by the Sea, NJ. In the early years of RENEW, Salsey was a small community leader and facilitated a group which included teenagers in her home. Tom has long been an advocate of Catholic education and has served on the boards of many Catholic High Schools, as well as Providence College and the University of Scranton.
