St. Peter's Lithuanian Parish Celebrates ARISE Season Four

St. Peter’s Lithuanian Parish of South Boston ended Season Four of ARISE Together in Christ (Kelkis Kristuje, in Lithuanian) this spring with an invitation to all ARISE participants to come together at the parish on Saturday evening May 8, 2010 for a photo session and to share their experiences. Not everyone could make it, but there was an enthusiastic response from the almost 90 who did attend.

During the sharing, one parishioner said that being part of ARISE helped her to once again feel pride in her Catholic faith during these difficult times for the Church. Another said that she has grown closer to the members of her group and feels a strong bond to them when they come to Mass on Sunday. One person noted that the faith sharing led them to see the need to learn more about the faith.  One of the hosting families mentioned that when the participants came for the faith-sharing sessions, there was great joy and excitement about getting together. Yet another expressed gratitude to their pastor, Fr. Steve Zukas, for being able to attend many of the sessions despite his busy schedule. Father visited each group at least once, and his presence and support was truly appreciated. As the gathering came to an end, one longtime member of the parish said that she had experienced and seen her parish in a new and hopeful way on this evening.
